Greetings from the Missouri Western State University Department of Music!!

We are pleased to announce the 32nd Annual “Tournament of Champions” marching competition. We hope that you will include this event on your calendar. This year’s event will take place on Tuesday, October 10th in Spratt Stadium. The event will begin mid-afternoon and conclude in evening.

We will divide into 5 classes based on the number of playing members in your band (winds and percussion). Here are the anticipated class divisions:

1A – up to 49 musicians
2A – 50-74 musicians
3A – 75-99 musicians
4A – 100-119 musicians
5A – 120+ musicians

The class may be slightly altered depending on received entries in order to make the competition as fair as possible for all attending. Bands will be scheduled at 15-minute intervals. There is no minimum time limit for your show, but you must be able to get on and off the field within your scheduled time slot. We have an optional warm-up area that you may use and it will be scheduled for you regardless of your decision to use it.

We run a 6 judge panel with 4 up and 2 on the field (weather permitting).

The entry fee is $350 per band. This must be paid before your band can compete. You may send your payment in the mail or deliver it personally on the day of the event. This fee is nonrefundable.

If it rains, we march. The field is designed to handle up to 4 inches of rain per hour. Hopefully that will never happen! If it should rain, it is your call regarding your performance.
