| The SBMC features an opportunity for your band to participate for ratings only in all events or compete in the field, parade, drum line, and color guard events. Please join us for a fun-filled day! Our concession stand will be open throughout the day for your convenience! At a minimum, the top 4 places will be awarded in each class grouping, as well as ratings in both parade and field events.
Make all checks payable to Southern Boone Band Boosters. We will generate invoices in early September and email them to you. Please make sure your email address is correct.
Register (and pay your fees) by the end of August to receive the early bird discount! Scheduling can be difficult for last minute entries. For guaranteed participation in this festival please register by the first Monday in October. Our address is:

Cancellations: Please understand that we plan our festival according to your entries. Your fees must be paid prior to being added to the schedule. If you enter late (after October 2nd ) you must pay your fees in full before you are allowed to perform.
Parade will step off at 9 AM.
Event Classification is separated by MSHSAA class. If any class, like 3A, gets too big, the class will be split by the amount of student performers. For example, 3A may be split into Class 3A large bands and Class 3A small bands.

Steve Bell- Visual Effect
For over thirty years Steve C. Bell has arranged music, provided for camps and clinics,
instructed private students, performed, and adjudicated contests as an independent
contractor all across the nation. He has been involved with a multitude of ensembles
within BOA, TOB, PASIC, WGI, DCI, Texas UIL, MCCGA, and MSHSAA. While several
of the ensembles Steve has arranged music for and/or instructed with earned top
awards, including best music and best percussion, he is most fond of the success many
of his private students have had after they went out on their own. His professional
memberships include ASCAP, PAS, the Vic Firth-Zildjian Educational Team, and he
currently endorses DW drums, Evans heads, Zildjian Cymbals, and Vic Firth sticks.
Steve’s educational background includes receiving a scholarship to and earning a
Bachelor degree from the University of North Texas. While there he studied music
composition and arranging with Dr. Joseph Klein, Dr. Martin Mailman, and Paris
Rutherford as well as percussion with Mike Drake and Ron Fink. Prior to going to UNT
he also engaged in DCI performing with The Cavaliers and was on staff with Phantom
Regiment.
Jason Bergman- Visual Ensemble
Jason is the current assistant band director at Crestview Middle School in the
Rockwood School District. He received his undergraduate degree from Missouri State
University in 2007. He then received his master's degree from Lindenwood university in
2015. In 2004 he marched with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps on
baritone. He was the assistant color guard director at Francis Howell High School from
2007-2013. He was also the guard director at Parkway South from 2011-2013 where
the guard earned first place at the WGI St. Louis Regional and first place in Regional A
in 2013. He then took over the Eureka High School guard where he was the guard
director from 2013-2021. During his tenure at Eureka, the guard made finals numerous
times at WGI regionals around the midwest area. They also won several medals in the
MCCGA circuit throughout his tenure. Jason continues to design and work with various
marching bands and guards around the St. Louis area.
Chris Becker- Music Effect
Chris Becker is the Director of the Wind Ensemble and the Jazz Band at Washington
University, and serves as Director of Winds and Percussion. He graduated “With
Distinction” from the UMKC Conservatory of Music in 1977, and earned an MA from
Lindenwood.
Becker has taught for 46 years. In 2017, he retired from Parkway South HS after
serving for 36 years in Parkway.
He is the Conductor of the Manchester Community Band, and has been a guest
conductor for numerous honor bands.
Becker has served as the Jazz Vice President for MMEA, and is a Past President of the
Missouri Unit of IAJE. He served as Jazz VP for the St. Louis Suburban Music
Educators Association (SLSMEA).
Becker belongs to NAfME, MMEA, CBDNA, MOAJE, MBA, and Phi Beta Mu. He was
named "Charles Emmons Outstanding Band Director" by PBM in 1999, and awarded a
Pillar of Parkway in 2016. Becker was named to the SLSMEA Hall of Fame in 2018.
Dr. Jack Scheurer- Music Ensemble
Dr. Jack Scheurer is retired from the Pattonville School District in suburban St. Louis,
where he served as the music coordinator, as well as the director of bands and director
of orchestras at Pattonville High School. Pattonville students, bands, and orchestras
consistently received the highest ratings at district, state, and regional contests. The
Pattonville marching band was twice selected to participate in the National Cherry
Blossom Parade in Washington DC.
He has been recognized as the outstanding employee for the Pattonville School District,
the outstanding music educator award from the Missouri State High School Activities
Association and the National Federation of High School Schools, and the NFHS
Midwest Region outstanding music educator award. He managed the Missouri state
music festival for many years, and continues to manage the district and state music
festivals in the greater St. Louis area. He is a frequent adjudicator throughout Missouri,
Oklahoma, and Kansas.
Bryan White- Color Guard
Bryan White works as a designer, choreographer and drill designer for numerous
marching band and color guard programs throughout the country. He has had multiple
clients achieve BOA regional finalists status as well as WGI regional finalists/medalists
status. Bryan currently serves as the Director of Color Guards at Belleville East HS.
Bryan currently resides in St Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Alexandros Fragiskatos- Percussion
Dr. Alexandros Fragiskatos (he/him) is a percussionist, educator, and arranger based in
central Missouri. His diverse musical training as a solo, chamber, pit, and orchestral
musician has led him to performances across the U.S. and Europe. As an active
member of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) at both the state and national level, Alex
has performed, judged, and given masterclasses at several PAS-sponsored events. He
regularly judges both marching and concert percussion competitions. Alex is particularly
interested in amplifying the compositional voices of the traditional percussion canon and
seeks commissions that expand representation. As a steelpan player, he has been
invited as guest artist and clinician and his steelband arrangements are regularly
performed throughout the U.S. and abroad. Alex holds a BM from the University of
Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, an MM from the University of Akron, and a
DMA in percussion from Arizona State University. He has taught at Phoenix
College, Grand Canyon University, and Missouri Valley College. Currently, Alex teaches
percussion at Central Methodist University.
