Bands are classified by school enrollment, grades 10-12 only.

Class A 0-400
Class AA 401-600
Class AAA 601-1225
Class AAAA 1226 - up

The new classification system was adopted in 2012 in order to align with the Bands of America classification system.

The top 12 scoring bands regardless of class are invited to perform in the evening’s Finals. If a Class Champion is not among the highest scoring bands advancing to Finals, they will be invited to perform at Finals in exhibition. Performance order is determined by a “Top 6/Bottom 6” draw.
