Youth in Music Marching Band Championship

Ten years ago the Youth In Music Championships were
just a dream and an idea. In those years the YIM
Championships have grown from 9 to 20 bands and 1,400 to
6,000 in attendance. The YIM Championships have quickly
become one of the premier marching band events in the
Midwest. The 2013 event was great, with a large lineup
of 22 bands from five states. Join us on Saturday
October 11, 2014 for the tenth anniversary event.
New for 2014, the YIM Championships will be held on
the campus of Farmington High School just south of
Minneapolis. The 2014 event will be a single daytime
show to crown class champions and the overall Minnesota
state champion. The event's former venue — the HHH
Metrodome — is being dismantled to make room for the new
Vikings football stadium. Youth in Music plans to return
to downtown Minneapolis in 2016 when construction on the
new Vikings stadium is complete.
As in past years, special guest units will perform
during breaks in the contest. Past featured exhibitions
have been presented by Minne-Brass, University of
Minnesota Marching Band, University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse
Marching Band and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
Blugold Marching Band. |
