Roll Steppin' For Rosa Marching Invitational

This is a single performance event designed to give
bands the opportunity to perform at the beginning of the
season. Judging format will use competitive style
scoring and every band will receive a placing.
Competition will be held on recently installed turf
field. Bands are divided into classes by school size.
This event is a Girl Scout Gold Award Project to
raise awareness of Spinal Cord Injuries like that
sustained by Rosa Adams Bussard who was previously the Head
Director of our band programs here at Olathe Northwest
High School. During the summer of 2012, Mrs. Bussard
fell down a flight of stairs sustaining a serious spinal
cord injury leaving her a complete quadriplegic. Can
you imagine one day being normal and then the next day
not being able to use your limbs and being dependent on
someone else for your personal care? Throughout her
career, Mrs. Bussard has had a profound impact on many
band students and individuals, encouraging them to
achieve their maximum potential. It is our desire that
we as a music community, come together and give back to
her what she has given to us.
