Now in its 61st year, Luverne's Tri-State Band Festival is the longest running marching band festival in the region. The annual parade and field competition draws bands from Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota with more than 2,500 students participating.
The 2011 lineup will include approximately 20 bands competing in the parade and 16 competing on the field.
Parade competition is at 10:00 a.m. on Main Street.
Field competition is at 12:30 p.m. at the Luverne High School

Also, a parade has been added, with a 10 a.m. start on Main Street. The parade travels along Main Street, with judging near the corner of Main and McKenzie. The afternoon field competition is held at the Luverne High School athletic field. An awards ceremony is held at the high school athletic field following the field competition.
Field competition begins at 12:30 p.m. at Luverne High School, 709 N. Kniss Ave.
And mark the date for (Sept. 29) 2012, that's next year's date.
