On Saturday, September 25, 18 of Iowa's finest marching bands will perform in the 30th Annual Marion Marching Invitational. The competition will be held at the Marion Football Field across from Thomas Park. Over 1500 students will be involved in this Iowa High School Music Association sanctioned event. Participating bands, in order of performance, are West Marshall, Wilton, Beckman, Eddyville/Blakesburg, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Clear Creek-Amana, Anamosa, South Tama, Solon, Benton Community, Oelwein, Davis County, Western Dubuque, Ottumwa, Dubuque Hempstead, Clinton, and Marion. Trophies will be awarded for all places and to the best drum major, best color guard, best horn line and best drum line in each class. Special awards will also be given to the outstanding drum major, color guard, horn line, drumline, and overall champion for the entire evening. The competition will start at 5:00 pm with an admission of $5 for adults and $3 for students. Gates will open at 4:00 pm.
