The North Central Marching Invitational is a straight contest (no finals) hosted by Fort Dodge Senior High School. Each participating band meets for a 90-minute clinic beginning in the morning. The competition begins at 5:00pm. Bands are classed using Iowa High School Music Association guidelines for school size. Trophies are awarded to all participants and caption plaques are awarded by performance scores.  Caption awards include Best Brass, Best Woodwinds, Best Color Guard, Best Drum Majors and Best Marching.  A Grand Champion trophy is also awarded.

The contest will be held at historic Dodger Stadium, one of the finest stadiums in the state. Bands will be marching on field turf.
